Underwriting

The Underwriting Team at Milner Financial is changing how insurance is designed and delivered for those with medical concerns. We advocate on your behalf and leverage carrier partner relationships and resources to secure the most distinguished offers for your client. How do we do it?

First, we distinguish our underwriting process by offering certain things that others do not. We utilize Re-insurance underwriting manuals in our office to help substantiate and negotiate the best offers from our carriers.

Second, we educate our producers on the underwriting impairments to help them be well-equipped for making the sale.

Third, we will make calls with the producer to their clients to help re-inforce the underwriting process and to help gather the pertinent information to help us assess the risk in the best manner. All of this helps us to present the best possible case to the underwriter.

The Milner Financial Underwriting Team offers three options for medical history review:

  • Preliminary Quick Quote Review – We summarize the important medical, financial, and avocation information and send it out to over 15 carriers at the same time for a Quick Response, usually within 48 hours. We relay the best offers back to the producer with competitive rates that work for your clients. All offers are subject to full underwriting review of all records and usual age and amount underwriting requirements.
  • Trial Application – We retrieve medical records from the physicians that have treated your client. Along with the financial and avocation information that you provide, we send this out to the best carriers that align with the products that you are hoping to offer that benefit your client most. This process yields a more definitive offer given the details provided. This process requires a minimum premium of $3,000 or a face amount greater than $500,000.
  • Formal Application – This process has recently seen some major changes for the better with fewer requirements, faster decisions, and more competitive offers. About 70% of the cases will go through underwriting and issue as preferred or better. Our in house underwriters will go to work on the remaining 30% to find the best options available in the market by utilizing either the above QuickQuote process or the trial application process. Rest assured, with our 100 plus years of experience, and carrier relationships, we will find you the best offer!
